Food Groups

1. "What did you just put in your mouth?" [Paper, a dried pea discovered in the fold of a high chair a day later, or packaging of some kind. Usually recovered by a fingersweep of a widely grinning mouth.]

2. "No, you eat it." [Stuff that was originally palatable, but that is being offered after having been in the mouth for a while. Or, baby food, back in the day.]

3. "See, it's good! Mommy eats some--you eat some!" [The universal donor, acceptable to all comers.]

4. "Not for Munchkins!" [Coffee, etc.]

5. "That's not for eating." [Stuff we cram into our mouths when she's not looking, like candy, then pretend we're chewing on goldfish crackers.]

I love Group 5. I was stuffing some sticky caramels in just today, hoping she wouldn't notice :)
