What's the Worst Way

to spend $9,000? Today it seemed that it must be to spend it on a sudden, unexpected emergency home repair that made absolutely no visible improvement to a house we were planning to live in for only three more weeks before selling.

But then, there are worse ways. It would be worse to spend $9,000 on a risky organ transplant, for example. Or unsuccessfully tracking down a prodigal family member. Or pet dialysis.

Entries in the imaginary misery poker contest welcome. Bonus points for creativity! ;)

3) Helping the fellow who has $31,000,000 to transfer and you're just the one to assist him.

2) Doing a home movie version of the first (or second, or third) flapping wings airplane from the 19th century.

1) Buying a five year supply of spam be,cause the world will melt down at 12 AM, Jan. 1, 2000.

Ohhhhh yuk. We made the folks who sold our home to us in January do just about exactly the same -- PVC pipe led from street to house, and the inspection turned up a leak. It cost them darned near your amount. I felt bad for them, but also very grateful that it hadn't come out of our pockets. :(
So you're selling the house? You probably explain this further down in the blog. Sorry -- I read from the top. Bad habit.
