Making a Joyful Noise

Allison Clare has a new CD of kids' Christian music. It's got lots of songs that I remember from Vacation Bible School, and she and I were belting out "Do, Lord" together--"Do, Lord, oh do Lord, oh do remember me, waaaay beyooooond the blue!"

Gillian looked up at us grimly, shook her head, and gave us her review of our performance: "No blue. No sing."

But AC is, as always, undeterred, even when she doesn't quite have the lyrics right. She sings with great verve: "I've got a piece of Jesus in my heart" and "This little light of mine, I'm going to lady-shine, lady-shine."*

*"The peace" and "let it shine," for those who didn't grow up Baptist.

Ha! Would you recommend that CD? Been looking for one... Abigail doesn't like music much. She yells "STOP!" whenever her dad plays guitar and puts her hand on the strings to mute them. And she demands that I "MAKE IT QUIET!" on the opening credits of Dora. So maybe she and Gillian are destined to be friends.

Erin: The music is fine, but not great--chirpy kids' songs, but not something you'd want to listen to on your own. Still fun for AC, though, which makes it fun for me.

I got it on iTunes, so you could sample them to see if Abi likes them . . . it's by Wee Worship, and we got the album of Bible songs ($9.99 for 45 songs), but you can also get them singly or preview them.

Sadly, however, Gillian must have been commenting on our execution--she loves music!
